Justice of the Peace

I am pleased to add a very happy activity to my life on Nantucket: Officiating at weddings!!

I was recently appointed as a Justice of the Peace and I am excited about being part of a couple’s happiness in getting married. It is my honor to be the wedding Officiant on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I will assure the proper steps are taken to affirm the couple’s agreement to marry and will perfect the marriage license.

Rates (non-lawyer level of course) are low starting with a simple ceremony in my downtown Nantucket office to anywhere on Nantucket customized for whatever the bride and groom desire.

Areas of Practice

Our firm recognizes the need to be specialized so our day-to-day law practice is concentrated to limited areas. We concentrate the practice in real estate law, analyzing and drafting contracts, business transactions, leasing, buying, selling and financing of real estate, condominiums, income producing properties, vacation homes, shared ownership agreements, wills trusts and small estates. We also have a lot of experience in the representation of landlords and tenants in resolving their disputes, including the prosecution or defense of eviction proceedings.

Our advice and counsel in business matters builds on our prior experiences that includes litigating real estate contracts, landlord/tenant disputes, family matters and a variety of other matters. We are proud of the work produced by this office and enjoy even more the success it regularly brings to our clients.

We can refer you to specialists who we work with on matters we do not handle “in-house” such as personal injury, worker’s compensation, criminal, employment, immigration, discrimination and other matters.

For example, if you are injured at work or as result of someone’s wrongdoing, we will find a good personal injury or worker’s compensation attorney with the specialty necessary for your case. We then work with that attorney through to the end of your case, all without any additional legal fee to you. This lets you maintain contact with local counsel and avoid the time and expense of meeting counsel off-island travel. Whatever your case, we can help you get the right kind of legal services.
